At a glance
"We should totally go to Lisbon." A Seven said that, probably on a Tuesday, probably while also planning a pottery class and a birthday surprise. Sevens are bright, quick, playful, and endlessly curious. They are the spark at the party and the reason the weekend ended up somewhere unexpected. They see options everywhere. Committing to one of them is the hard part.
What drives a Type 7
Sevens want to be satisfied and content, with their needs met. Their basic fear is being deprived or trapped in pain, boredom, or limitation. The passion is gluttony, and it is less about food than about experience: more fun, more ideas, more plans, more of everything, so there is never a quiet moment where a sad feeling might catch up.
At their best
Growth moves Sevens toward Type 5. They slow down and go deep. One hobby becomes a mastery instead of a phase. They can sit with a hard feeling without booking a trip to escape it. At this level they bring joy and substance together: the friend who makes you laugh and also stays to help you through the hard part.
Under stress
In a rough patch, Sevens head toward Type 1. The fun drains out and a sharp critic takes its place. They get irritable, nitpicky, and preachy about how everyone else is doing things wrong. If your usually breezy friend is lecturing you about loading the dishwasher, something deeper may be bothering them.
The two wings
7w6: the loyal adventurer who brings the whole friend group on the road trip and remembers the snacks.
7w8: the bold dealmaker who wants the best table, the fastest car, and an answer by lunchtime.
In love and at work
Sevens in love are generous, flirty, and fun, the partner who turns a rainy Sunday into an event. They can drift when things get heavy, so the relationship has to feel like a shared adventure rather than a cage. At work, they excel at brainstorming, launching, selling, and connecting people. Routine admin is their kryptonite. Pair them with a finisher.
One honest tip
The next time you feel the urge to add a new plan, finish an old one instead. Finish the book, the course, the conversation you dodged. Joy that survives a little discomfort lasts a lot longer than joy that runs from it.
