All ENTP characters · How MBTI works

Satoru Gojo’s idea of a field trip is dragging his newest student into a fight with Jogo and narrating the lesson while he wins. He wanted Yuji to see a Domain Expansion up close. Most teachers would use a diagram.

The clown act has an engine, and it is an ENTP’s. Everything is a toy with hidden possibilities, including danger, rules and the people in charge. He hides Yuji’s survival from the higher-ups to keep him off their hit list, then unveils him at the Kyoto event like a surprise gift. Behind the play sits real rigor. Limitless, Infinity, the Six Eyes: he understands his technique down to the math. In Hidden Inventory, with Toji’s blade in his skull, he figures out reverse cursed technique on the spot, comes back, and casts Hollow Purple. That is a thinker solving the hardest problem of his life while dying.

The history explains the performance. The teenage Gojo is cocky and careless, sure that he and Geto are the strongest pair alive. After Riko dies, he becomes the strongest alone, and Geto drifts away. When Geto walks off in a crowded Shinjuku street, Gojo lets him go. He turns that loss into teaching, which might be the most mature thing he ever does. As a Seven with an Eight wing, Gojo runs from pain by staying light, fast and entertaining. The Eight wing is his open contempt for authority. He insults elders to their faces and dares them to do something about it. Jokes, sweets and souvenirs are also how he keeps people at arm’s length, though the care underneath is real. His whole plan is to raise a generation of sorcerers strong enough to change the rotten system.

The past is where he is least in control. In Shibuya, the man wearing Geto’s face steps into view and three years of memories flood him in an instant. That moment of stillness is all the sealing cube needs. A lot of fans type him ENTJ or an Eight, citing his dominance. I get it. Still, his default mode is play. He improvises, provokes and experiments, and he plans around people rather than over them. That is ENTP all day.

Strengths

  • Brilliant, creative problem solver
  • Protects his students from the higher-ups
  • Stays calm and funny under any pressure

Weak spots

  • Hides his loneliness behind jokes
  • Bad at taking anything seriously in public
  • Haunted by the friend he lost

In relationships

Gojo loves loudly and from a safe distance. He brings his students souvenirs, shields them from the elders, and made sure Megumi was never handed over to the Zenin clan. Yet the one person he let all the way in was Geto, and losing him left a hole the jokes never fill.

In conflict he deflects with humor until someone threatens his students, then he gets frighteningly direct. His best matches are people unimpressed by him: Nanami, who finds him tiresome and trusts him anyway, Megumi, his reluctant favorite, and Yuji, who takes the chaos in stride.
