Most villains want power. Vecna wants to fix what he sees as a broken design. As a boy, Henry Creel looked at his family, his town and the people around him and decided they were all playing roles in a rigid, fake world, with the clock ticking toward nothing. Everything he does afterwards grows out of that conclusion. That is the enneagram 5 at its most extreme. Fives detach, observe and hoard knowledge as protection against a world that feels intrusive. Henry was the strange, gifted child who watched everyone and trusted no one, and the 4 wing adds the sense of being special, a misunderstood genius who must be different from the people he despises.
As an INTJ, his lead function is introverted intuition, a single private vision of how things really are that takes notes from nobody. He studies the world from a distance, arrives at a theory, then spends decades bending reality to fit it. Extraverted thinking handles the execution. He murders his mother and sister and lets his father take the blame. He waits years as an orderly at Hawkins Lab, then manipulates Eleven into removing the chip that suppresses his powers. In season four he picks his victims with care, because each death opens a gate.
There is a childlike coldness to his logic. He compares people to animals he has watched and found wanting, and he treats his killings as experiments that must be completed to prove the theory right. A strong argument says he is an 8, since he hungers for control over Hawkins. I considered it seriously. But Eights want to dominate the world they live in. Vecna wants to escape it and remake it, and he spends most of his life withdrawn inside his own head, which is pure Five.
In the end his precise plan breaks on the things he never bothered to study: friendship, stubborn love and a furious mother. In the finale the Mind Flayer fragment that corrupted him is no help when Eleven and Will overpower him, and Joyce finishes him with an axe.

In relationships
Vecna does not do relationships. He does experiments. As a boy he loathed the polite routines of his family, and as an orderly he befriends Eleven only because she is the key to his cage. His one real connection is a dark mirror: Eleven is the person most like him, and she rejects everything he offers.
Conflict with him is a psychological siege. He finds your guilt, opens it up and makes you walk through it. If he were capable of matches, they would be the people he cannot crack: Eleven, his opposite and equal, Nancy, who stared into his visions and kept going, and Will, who has been inside his mind.
