Stephen Strange personality type: INTJ

INTJ, enneagram 3, and probably the smuggest man to ever save the universe. Stephen Strange is one of the easiest calls on this list, and the case comes down to a single raised finger.

Before the magic, Strange is a neurosurgeon who turns down patients when a case might hurt his record. He plays music trivia with the staff in the middle of surgery and never loses. He looks at case files on his phone while speeding along a mountain road at night, and the crash wrecks the hands that gave him his identity. That is the Three core in one sequence: a man whose worth is his performance, losing the ability to perform. His Four wing is the private wound. He burns his savings on experimental surgeries and pushes Christine away when she tries to help.

His mind converges on a single answer and holds it. Kamar-Taj tries to teach him surrender, and he heads straight for the restricted texts, because he can already sense where the answer lives. He learns faster than anyone at Kamar-Taj by treating magic like a residency: memorize, drill, execute. The physical world keeps humbling him, though. He cannot open his first portal until the Ancient One leaves him alone on Mount Everest. He is brilliant in his head and clumsy with his body and his surroundings.

Two scenes show the growth. To save Hong Kong, he traps Dormammu in a time loop and lets himself die over and over until the dark lord agrees to a deal, trading his pride for a planet. In Infinity War he looks at 14,000,605 futures, finds the one where they win, and hands the Time Stone to Thanos to save Tony’s life. A Three who once protected his record now gambles everything on a plan only he can see, and in Endgame he raises one finger to tell Tony this is the moment.

Some fans prefer ENTJ for Strange, since he is commanding and loves an audience. I get it. Still, his biggest moments happen in solitude, reading alone at night or floating in silence while he searches through futures, and he acts on a single inner vision he refuses to explain.
