Will Byers personality type: INFP

We meet Will through what he leaves behind: a fort called Castle Byers, a stack of drawings, a mother who will not stop looking. For most of season one the boy the whole show is built around is barely on screen. It fits. Will has always spoken best through what he makes.

The enneagram 4 explains the rest. Fours feel fundamentally different from everyone around them and search for an identity that feels real. Will gets called zombie boy at school, and for years he hides a secret about who he loves. The 5 wing adds watchfulness and a habit of retreating inward when things get loud. In season three, when Mike brushes off their old D&D campaign, Will tears down Castle Byers in the rain, and the scene hurts because he had invested in a world nobody else was guarding.

As an INFP, his lead is introverted feeling, a deep private world of values rarely said out loud, and extraverted intuition pours it into images. In season two, with the Mind Flayer inside him, he draws the tunnels under Hawkins on sheet after sheet. His painting for Mike in season four is the same move, a heartfelt message he pretends Eleven asked him to make. In the van, he talks about Eleven but means himself.

Imagination is how he survives. The Upside Down gives him a connection to Vecna that nobody else has, and he spends years carrying that link in silence, sketching what he sees because he cannot say it.

A solid case says ISFP, since he is gentle, artistic and grounded. I almost went there. But his art is about meaning, symbols and inner worlds, from wizards to vines spreading across a map. That points to intuition, so INFP.

The final season is his. In “Sorcerer” he finds psychic power and kills three Demogorgons to save his friends. Later he tells the group he is gay, reasoning that facing his fear weakens Vecna’s hold, and in the finale he and Eleven overpower Vecna. The kid who was taken becomes the one who fights back.
