District 13 prints everyone’s daily schedule on their forearm each morning. Breakfast, drills, classes, sleep, all stamped in ink by a machine. You learn most of what matters about Alma Coin from that one detail. Her rebellion is not chaos. It is a spreadsheet.
She is president of 13, the district everyone believed the Capitol had wiped out. It survived underground for decades, building weapons and waiting. When Katniss arrives, Coin sees an asset to manage, not a person to know, and she never quite hides how irritating she finds the girl’s moods.
Coin reads as INTJ because she plays a long game in silence. Introverted intuition holds the end goal, a Panem with her at the top, and extraverted thinking organizes the people, rations and weapons to get there. She speaks in short, flat sentences and almost never improvises. Every concession she makes to Katniss, from immunity for the victors to the right to kill Snow, is a calculated trade.
Her 1 is the cold, controlling version of the type. Ones believe in the correct way, and 13 runs on correct ways: rationing, punishment for hoarding food, total discipline. Coin has a reformer’s certainty that she is right, and that certainty is what makes her frightening. She can do terrible things and file them under necessary.
The worst of it arrives at the end. Bombs disguised as Capitol supply parachutes kill a crowd of Capitol children and then the medics who rush in, Prim among them. Snow tells Katniss that Coin ordered the attack to finish the war and turn the last loyalists against him. Then Coin proposes one final Hunger Games with Capitol children, the same cruelty pointed in a new direction.
Katniss votes yes, then shoots Coin instead of Snow at the execution. In the films, Julianne Moore plays her with a little more warmth early on, so the turn lands as more of a shock. In the book you suspect her from the start, because Katniss distrusts her from their first meeting.
The obvious alternative is ESTJ, since she is so procedural. I keep INTJ because the procedures always serve a vision she keeps to herself. An ESTJ trusts the system. Coin trusts her own plan and uses the system to carry it out.
Strengths

- Hides her real aims from allies
- Has no tolerance for dissent
- Repeats the cruelty she claims to oppose
In relationships
Count the people Coin smiles at for real and you will run out of examples quickly. She works with Plutarch, tolerates Haymitch, and manages Katniss like a difficult product launch. Loyalty, for her, flows upward only.
She handles conflict with procedure: a vote, a rule, a quiet threat about who gets fed. That makes her an effective wartime leader and a terrifying peacetime one. Her best matches, at least on paper, are fellow strategists who share her taste for order: Snow, her mirror image, Gale, who backs her hard methods, and Effie, who respects a well-run schedule.
