All INFP characters · How MBTI works

When Wanda Maximoff was ten, a shell hit her family’s apartment building in Sokovia and killed her parents. A second shell landed next to her and her brother and did not go off. They waited two days, staring at the name Stark printed on its side. If you want to understand Wanda, start there: she learned very early that the world can take everything, and that nobody is coming. She is a Four with a Five wing. Fours feel defined by what they have lost, and they long for a life that matches the one in their head. The Hex is pure Four: a perfect suburban life with Vision and the kids, painted over an empty lot. The Five wing adds the withdrawal. She does not ask anyone for help. She makes her own world and locks the door.

I type her INFP. She has a deep private world of values and emotions, and she feels everything at a volume most people would find unbearable. Her choices come from loyalty to a few people: Pietro, then Vision, then the twins she creates. Her magic is imagination with no ceiling. She does more than move objects. She rewrites reality, which in WandaVision means an entire sitcom town built out of the shows she watched as a child.

Those sitcoms got her through the war, so when Vision dies, she rebuilds a world out of them. The damage comes from the practical side she never develops. In Lagos she tries to contain a blast and loses control of it, and in Westview she never stops to ask what the residents are living through until their pain is impossible to ignore.

The moving part is how she lets it go. At the end of WandaVision she drops the Hex, says goodbye to Vision, and takes responsibility for the people she hurt. In Multiverse of Madness her grief takes over again, but even there the last choice is hers, and she brings the mountain down on herself and the Darkhold. Some fans type Wanda as ISFP, because her power looks so physical and immediate. I see the case. Still, her magic comes out of imagination and meaning, whole worlds rewritten to fit her feelings.

Strengths

  • Loves with total loyalty
  • Imagination with no ceiling
  • Takes responsibility once she sees the harm
  • Brave enough to give up what she wants most

Weak spots

  • Retreats into fantasy instead of grieving
  • Refuses help until it is too late
  • Loses control when emotions peak

In relationships

Very few people get in, and those who do get everything. Pietro was her other half, Vision was the one person who made her feel normal, and the twins in Westview are the family she built when the world kept taking hers away. She does not open up quickly, but once she does, she is all in.

In conflict she withdraws, then erupts. She needs patient people who do not fear her power: Natasha Romanoff, who understands being turned into a weapon, Steve Rogers, who stood by her after Lagos, and Loki Laufeyson, who knows exactly what it feels like to be cast as the monster in the story.
