Eugene Ottinger runs the Nevermore beekeeping club, and it is where he first befriends Wednesday.
He is delighted. She is not. He gives her the tour anyway, introduces her to the bees by name, and treats her like a friend from minute one.
That is a classic ISFJ. Eugene is steady, caring and practical. He looks after his hives with care, keeps the routine going, and notices small things about people.
The ISFJ loyalty is what gets him hurt. Wednesday asks him to watch a cave in the woods while she investigates elsewhere. He takes the job seriously, sits out there in the dark alone, and gets attacked by the Hyde. He ends up in hospital in a coma, which is the moment Wednesday realizes how much she cares about the people around her. A loyal sidekick getting hurt in service is a familiar story. What makes Eugene special is that he knew the risk and went anyway, because a friend asked.
He is a 6 with a 5 wing. Sixes look for safety and something to believe in, then defend it with surprising courage. Eugene is anxious, but he is brave in the way anxious people are brave: not fearless, just committed. The 5 wing brings his curiosity about bees and the quiet expertise he is so proud of.
He grows by being taken seriously. In the final battle, after he wakes, his bees swarm Thornhill and save Wednesday. The small kid with the beekeeping hat is the one who brings down the villain. Nobody at Nevermore saw that coming except, perhaps, the bees. It is a lovely payoff for a character the school treated as background noise, and it proves the point of his type: quiet consistency adds up. Feed the hives every day for a year and one day they come when you call.
INFP is a plausible alternative, given his gentleness and his inner world. But Eugene’s care is concrete: routines, hives, showing up on time to the stakeout. He builds trust through reliable habits rather than big ideals. That practical loyalty makes him an ISFJ.

In relationships
Small acts are Eugene's love language: saving you a seat, bringing you honey, sitting in a cave all night because you asked. He is not dramatic and does not need much in return, just a little gratitude, the occasional invitation, and someone who remembers his bees have names.
Wednesday is his hero and his favorite challenge, and she would deny caring about him until the day he got hurt. Enid would adopt him like a younger brother. Thing would make the perfect partner on a stakeout, quiet, loyal and very good at not being noticed.
