All ISFJ characters · How MBTI works

Season one Sansa wants to marry a golden prince and live inside a song. Season eight Sansa looks Daenerys in the eye and asks what happens to the North after the war. Her arc is so big that fans sometimes type her twice. I think one type covers both versions, and it starts with the enneagram.

Sansa is a 6 with a 5 wing. Sixes are wired around trust: who is safe, who will protect me, and what happens if they do not. Young Sansa trusts the obvious authorities, her parents, the queen, her betrothed. Then Joffrey makes her look at her father’s head on a spike, and every authority she leaned on becomes a threat. The rest of her story is a Six rebuilding trust from scratch. She learns from Cersei, Tyrion, Littlefinger and Ramsay, most of whom hurt her, and she keeps the lessons while dropping the people. The 5 wing grows later: she says less, watches more, and remembers everything.

Her MBTI type is ISFJ, built on memory and detail. In King’s Landing she survives on remembered courtesies, family history and the exact phrasing that will keep Joffrey calm. She also reads the room. She learns to wear manners as armor and to give each powerful person what they want to hear. Hidden motives and future angles are her weak spot. Littlefinger plays her for years. He rescues her, then sells her to the Boltons, and she does not see it coming.

Growth arrives with a vengeance in season six. She escapes Ramsay with Theon, writes to the Vale, and arrives at the Battle of the Bastards with the knights who win it. Afterward she feeds Ramsay to his own dogs. In season seven she and Arya put Littlefinger on trial, and Sansa speaks the sentence. She ends the show as Queen in the North, a title she earned through patience.

Plenty of fans type later Sansa as INFJ, pointing to the long game she plays with the Vale letter and with Littlefinger. That is the strongest counterargument. I keep ISFJ because her strategy is built on remembered experience rather than intuition. She outplays Littlefinger by recognizing his old tricks, and she tells him so.

Strengths

  • Patient enough to wait for the right moment
  • Remembers every detail and every slight
  • Gracious in public, ruthless when needed

Weak spots

  • Slow to trust, even her own family
  • Keeps crucial plans to herself
  • Can be cold with people who disappoint her
  • Was too easily dazzled by status early on

In relationships

Her early crush on Joffrey teaches Sansa that charm can hide cruelty, and her forced marriage to Tyrion, oddly, shows her that a kind man can hide behind a bad reputation. She loves carefully and protects what she loves. Her bond with Arya starts as sibling bickering and ends as an alliance nobody can break.

In conflict she is polite, cool and quietly unbending. She does not shout, she remembers. Her best matches are people who are steady and honest with her: Arya, the sister who watches her back, Brienne, who keeps every oath she swore to her, and Tyrion, the husband she might have liked in another life.
