It starts when he is nine and his parents announce their divorce over Thanksgiving dinner. He has distrusted holidays, marriage and anything permanent ever since. That makes him a Six: scanning for danger, trying to stay one step ahead of it. His danger is getting hurt, so he keeps people at the distance of a punchline. The Seven wing supplies the punchlines and the escape routes. He once claimed he was moving to Yemen to get away from Janice, and committed so hard that Janice helped him pack and saw him off at the airport.

The type is ENTP. Chandler spots the absurd angle in everything and turns it into a riff before anyone else finishes the sentence, then backs it with dry, precise wordplay. His friends cannot name his job, statistical analysis and data reconfiguration, and the running gag works because his real talent is reframing things, not reporting them.

It is the first time he stays when a feeling gets serious. By the finale the guy who once faked a move to Yemen is moving his family to a house in Westchester.

Some fans type him INTP, since he spends so much time in his own head and a lot of it is anxious. I see it. Still, Chandler comes alive in a crowd. His jokes are performed, timed and aimed at an audience, which makes him extraverted to the core.
