Arya Stark keeps a list. Every night she says the names before sleep, like a prayer, and over eight seasons she crosses off a frightening number of them. After the Red Wedding, Arya turns herself into a weapon, and that is an Eight with a 7 wing: someone who refuses to be controlled and protects herself by becoming strong enough that nobody can hurt her again. She cuts Walder Frey’s throat after serving him a pie made from his own sons, and she drops the Night King in the godswood. The 7 wing is her restlessness. She turns down Gendry’s marriage proposal because being a lady is not who she is, and her final scene is a ship sailing west of Westeros to see what is out there.
She is an ISTP, with a private, practical logic that ignores social rules. Arya never saw why she should sew when she could shoot arrows, and she never pretended otherwise. Her body in the present moment does the rest. Syrio Forel’s water dancing lessons are basically drills in seeing what is in front of you, then moving faster than the other person. At Harrenhal, posing as a commoner and serving as Tywin Lannister’s cupbearer, she keeps her mouth shut, watches everything, and survives right under his nose.
Fitting in is the thing she wants nothing to do with. In Braavos the Faceless Men ask her to become no one. She cannot. She hides Needle in the rocks instead of throwing it away, kills Meryn Trant for personal reasons, and is blinded as punishment. When she finally walks out of the House of Black and White, she does it by announcing exactly who she is and that she is going home.
The surprise is how her story ends. On the steps of the Red Keep, the Hound tells her to drop her revenge and live. She listens, calls him Sandor, and runs. For an Eight, letting a target go is enormous. Some fans read her as a counterphobic Six, pointing to the mantra about fear that Syrio gave her. I see it. Still, Arya treats fear as a tool she has already mastered. Her core drive is autonomy, and she walks away from every master she has, the Faceless Men included.
Strengths
- Fearless and fast in a crisis
- Learns any physical skill quickly
- Loyal to family through everything
- Sees through lies and pretense
Weak spots
- Holds grudges for years
- Struggles to let people protect her
- Can turn cold faster than is healthy
- Ignores rules even when they matter
- Treats revenge as a to-do list
In relationships
Jon gave Arya a sword and ruffled her hair, and that bond is the warmest in the show. She shows love sideways. Her relationship with the Hound starts as kidnapping and ends as something close to family. With Gendry she finds a friend she trusts completely, then says no to the life he offers.
In conflict she is blunt and quick, and she would rather act than argue. She needs people who respect her independence. Sandor gives her honesty with no padding, Jon gives her unconditional love, and Brienne, who matched her blow for blow in a sparring match, earns her total respect.
