A knight in every way that counts, long before anyone made it official.

Brienne of Tarth becomes a knight in a cold hall at Winterfell, the night before the dead attack. Jaime points out that any knight can make another, tells her to kneel, and when she rises, Tormund is the first to cheer. It took seven seasons, and it feels like a correction more than a promotion. She had been a knight all along.
Her type shows in her vows. Brienne is an ISTJ, anchored to promises she has made, and she keeps them long after everyone else would have moved on. She swears herself to Renly, then to Catelyn, then to Sansa. Practical competence does the rest. She beats the Hound in a brutal fight on a hillside, she trains Podrick, and she delivers Jaime across hostile country as promised, even when he spends the whole trip insulting her.
Where she struggles is when two duties point in different directions. Outside Winterfell, she waits for Sansa’s signal from the tower. Then she hears that Stannis, the man she believes killed Renly, is nearby. She leaves her post to find him, and while she is gone, Sansa lights the candle. Brienne’s revenge is complete, her rescue is missed.
Ones want to be good and to do right, and they feel the gap between how things are and how they should be. Brienne is a 1 with a 2 wing, and for her that gap is the knightly code. She lives by ideals that most actual knights in the show ignore. The 2 wing makes her code about service. She does not want honor for herself. She wants to protect someone.
Her growth is about learning that honor can live in strange places. In the Harrenhal bath, Jaime tells her why he killed the Mad King, and her picture of the world shifts. She defends him to Sansa and eventually to Daenerys. In the last episode, as Lord Commander, she writes his entry in the White Book, giving him a fairer record than he gave himself. Some fans type Brienne as an ISFJ, pointing to her tenderness for Renly and her deep personal loyalty. That is a fair reading. I keep ISTJ because she leads with the oath. Her feelings follow the promise, not the other way around.

In relationships
Brienne's feelings for Renly are clear to everyone except Renly. She loves loyally and quietly. With Jaime she slowly lets down her guard, and their brief romance at Winterfell is both earned and painful. Tormund's crush on her is one of the show's best running jokes, and she never quite knows what to do with it.
In conflict she is honest and steady, and she would rather fight it out than play games. Her best matches respect her code: Jaime, who becomes a better man in her company, Sansa, whom she protects with total devotion, and Arya, who sees a fellow warrior in her.
