Typing a hand sounds silly until you watch Thing for ten minutes. It picks locks, steals keys, spies on suspects for her, rescues Wednesday from at least three situations, and does all of it without a word. A character with no face still has a style, and Thing’s style is cool, practical competence. That is ISTP behavior through and through. It solves the problem in front of it with whatever tools are lying around, then waits for the next one. When Wednesday needs a document from a locked office, Thing is already inside. When she needs a lookout, Thing is on the windowsill. It does not ask what the plan is. It improvises one.
The quiet logic shows in how it argues. Thing disagrees with Wednesday constantly, with frantic signing and the occasional sulk. It even invites Tyler to the dance in her name when she will not make a move herself. That is a mind running its own private calculations, deciding what makes sense rather than what feels comfortable.
At heart Thing is a 6, a loyalist. Sixes look for security in people and systems they trust, and Thing’s whole existence is built on family. Morticia sends it to Nevermore to keep an eye on Wednesday, and the first conflict between hand and girl is about whose side it is on. By the end of season one it has picked her, for good. When Laurel Gates stabs it, the scene hurts more than half the deaths in the show, and the panic on Wednesday’s face says everything she will not.
Season two adds the twist: Thing began as the hand of Isaac Night, the man trying to tear everything down. When Isaac forces it back on, the Addamses call to Thing and it rips out his mechanical heart, choosing the family over its own origin. That is the 6 story in one move, loyalty chosen rather than inherited. Some fans read Thing as ESFP, because it is so expressive and social with Enid. Fair, but its happiest moments are solo missions done well. ISTP fits better.

In relationships
Thing shows love through errands. It fetches, fixes, spies and stands guard, and it expects a little gratitude in return, which Wednesday rarely gives. It bonds fast with anyone who treats it like a person, which is why Enid, who talks to it like a roommate, wins its heart in about one episode.
Wednesday is its anchor and its biggest headache. Enid is the friend it never expected. Eugene, with his patience and his bees, would be the calm co-worker Thing deserves: someone who also knows what it feels like to be small and underestimated.
