In 1935 a bear mauled twenty-year-old Emmett McCarty near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Rosalie found him and carried him more than a hundred miles through the Appalachian mountains so Carlisle could turn him. Most people would come out of a story like that haunted. Emmett came out of it ready to wrestle anything that moves, and his family is mostly grateful someone in the house has fun.
That bounce is ESTP all the way. Extraverted sensing leads: he loves physical challenges, pranks, games and fights, and the Cullen family baseball game in the first book is his natural habitat. Introverted thinking backs it up with a quick, practical read on any situation. Emmett does not agonize. When the family votes in New Moon on whether Bella should become a vampire, he votes yes, because she wants it and that settles it. In Twilight he is one of the three Cullens who destroy James, and in Breaking Dawn he joins the training sessions at the Cullen house before the Volturi arrive. Hand him a problem with a body attached and he is your guy. Hand him a problem made of feelings and he will suggest a wrestling match.
The type 7 side is the appetite for fun as a coping plan. Sevens keep pain at a distance by staying busy and stimulated, and Emmett has plenty to keep at a distance: the canon notes he struggled hard to give up human blood. Jokes and contests keep him moving. The Breaking Dawn Part 2 film hands him the perfect humbling, when a teasing Emmett challenges newborn Bella to arm wrestle and loses, and the former strongest Cullen has to swallow it in front of everyone. Kellan Lutz plays the loss like a guy already planning the rematch, which is about as seven as it gets.
But: some fans put him at ESFP, since he is warm, loyal and openly devoted to Rosalie. Fair. The difference is how he decides. Emmett boils every situation down to quick logic, who is the threat and what is the move, instead of how everyone feels about it. He also enjoys the strategy of a fight, not only the noise. ESTP stays, and his marriage is a nice reminder that thinkers love hard too.

In relationships
Picture Emmett at a family meeting: arms crossed, grinning, waiting for the part where someone gets to fight. He shows love through play, teasing and physical loyalty. If you are family, he is in your corner, and he will make fun of you the whole time he is there.
Rosalie is his opposite and his anchor, the intense one to his easy one. He clicks with Jacob, who matches his energy and his appetite for a scrap, and with Jasper, the brother who turns his raw strength into actual tactics.
