All ENFP characters · How MBTI works

Rachel Elizabeth Dare’s first scene is hiding a total stranger in a bathroom at Hoover Dam.

Percy has just swung his sword at her by mistake, and the blade passed right through her because she is mortal. She saw it anyway. Most mortals look at the Mist and see a brick wall. Rachel sees everything, keeps her cool, and sends the skeleton soldiers chasing off in the wrong direction.

She is an ENFP, run by extraverted intuition: quick, curious, always spotting the next possibility. She talks so fast that Percy compares it to being punched with words. She paints, volunteers to help keep school art programs open, and treats the Labyrinth as an adventure rather than a death trap.

Behind the speed sits a strong private value system, and much of it points at her father, Mr. Dare, a wealthy businessman whose world she wants no part of. She hates the family money and the expectations attached to it. Being shipped off to Clarion Ladies Academy feels like being boxed up.

Call her a type 7, the adventurer who escapes a cage by finding a bigger world. She throws a hairbrush at Kronos’s face and it works. She talks a limo driver into ditching his client to drive two demigods across town. She writes her number on Percy’s hand in permanent marker, and he memorises it, much to Annabeth’s dismay. Sevens want options and hate being pinned down, which makes her final choice all the more interesting.

In The Last Olympian she warns the campers that only a child of Ares can kill the drakon. Then she accepts the spirit of Delphi, becomes the Oracle, and lets go of her feelings for Percy. It looks like a seven accepting limits. It is closer to a seven finding the one door nobody else can walk through.

INFP is the other common pick, since she is artistic and moody. But Rachel processes out loud, dives into danger headfirst, and gets bored by caution. She had not appeared in the first two Disney+ seasons, so for now she belongs to the books.

Strengths

In relationships

Rachel kissed Percy just before he left with Beckendorf on the mission to blow up Kronos's ship, which tells you she does not wait for perfect timing. Her crush on him caused real friction with Annabeth for most of two books. Then she chose the Oracle's job and stepped back from romance for good.

She gets along with people who enjoy her bluntness. Percy values having one mortal friend who sees everything he sees. Chiron welcomes her as the new Oracle and takes her visions seriously. Years later, in The Sun and the Star, she repeats a prophecy twelve times until Nico finally gets the quest he needs.
