Azula is the scariest villain in the show, and she is fourteen. She takes Ba Sing Se without an army, using disguise, the Dai Li and a near-perfect read on everyone around her. Then, in the last episodes, she falls apart. Both halves matter for her type.
Her arc runs backwards. Ozai names her Fire Lord, then leaves her behind. She banishes the Dai Li, distrusts her servants, and cuts her own hair. In the final Agni Kai, Katara pins her to a grate in chains, and the princess who never lost ends up sobbing on the ground.
Why does the collapse hit so hard? Because she is a Three with a 4 wing. Threes need to be admired and successful, and their deepest fear is being worthless without their achievements. Azula’s whole identity is being the perfect child, the one Ozai favors. The 4 wing shows in her private suspicion that she is unlovable. In the mirror scene she accuses a vision of her mother of thinking she was a monster, and it lands because some part of her believes it.
As an ENTJ she is all results and control. Everything is a tool: her friends, the Dai Li, her own brother. Behind the control is introverted intuition and the long-range vision. She plays several moves ahead, like convincing Long Feng she wants an alliance while quietly turning his agents against him, or offering Zuko a choice in the crystal catacombs that she has already made for him. In the moment she is lethal, from lightning to blue fire.
The feeling side is the one she has buried. She knows what she wants, never what she feels. When Mai and Ty Lee betray her at the Boiling Rock, she has no inner language for the hurt, so she reaches for more control. Many fans type her as an Eight, since she craves power and dominance. I see why. Still, Eights fight to avoid being controlled, while Azula fights to be seen as flawless. Her collapse starts the moment her image cracks, and that is the Three core showing through.
Strengths
- Plans five moves ahead of everyone
- Stays composed under pressure, until the very end
- Ruthlessly efficient at any task
- Spots people's weak points instantly
Weak spots
- Treats friends as tools
- Cannot process betrayal or failure
- Turns paranoid when control slips
In relationships
Azula does not love so much as recruit. She keeps Mai and Ty Lee close because they are useful, and she believes fear is a stronger bond than affection. The tragedy is that when she finds out she was wrong, she has nothing to replace it with.
Fights with Azula are never fair. She aims for the soft spot, then acts like you started it. Her healthiest matches would be people who cannot be intimidated or fooled: Toph, who would hear her lies in her heartbeat, Iroh, who sees through her, and Ty Lee, who saw something good in her longer than anyone.
