All ENFP characters · How MBTI works

Alice Cullen had to piece together her human life the way you would research a stranger. The trail led to an asylum in Mississippi, a grave whose date matched her admission there, and a younger sister named Cynthia. She was locked away for seeing the future. She came out of it the cheeriest person in the saga.

We type her ENFP. Her gift is visions, but her personality is possibility. Extraverted intuition sees branches everywhere, and Alice runs on branches: if Bella decides this, then that happens, and if Edward changes his mind, the picture shifts.

Her visions follow decisions already made, so a spontaneous choice can slip past her, and the wolves are blind spots she cannot see through at all. It is a neat picture of how intuitives get blindsided by impulsive people.

Introverted feeling is the loyalty under the sparkle. When she sees Bella jump from the cliff and believes it was suicide, she comes straight back to Forks, though Edward had taken the whole family out of Bella’s life. Then she takes Bella to Italy to stop him from stepping into the Volterra sun. In Eclipse she foresees Bella and Edward eloping to Las Vegas without her, so she guilt-trips Bella into letting her plan the wedding. In Breaking Dawn she and Rosalie get Bella ready on the day.

That is type 7 energy: keep things bright, keep options open, plan the next fun thing before the current one ends. Sevens are not shallow. They grieve in motion, and a past spent in a cell turns into a present spent celebrating.

Breaking Dawn shows the other side of a seven under pressure. She sees the Volturi coming, leaves with Jasper without explaining, and sends Bella a cryptic note that leads to a forger named J. Jenks. It looks like abandonment. It is a plan. She comes back with Nahuel, the hybrid who proves Renesmee is no threat. The Part 2 film goes further and has her let Aro see a whole battle that never takes place.

But: ENFJ is a popular pick for Alice, since she organizes everyone and reads moods so well. Still, she walks away when her vision demands it instead of staying to manage everyone’s feelings, and she acts on personal conviction rather than group harmony. ENFP fits better.

Strengths

  • Optimistic without being naive
  • Thinks three moves ahead
  • Loyal enough to cross an ocean for a friend
  • Makes any event feel special

Weak spots

  • Steamrolls people with her plans
  • Keeps people in the dark when it suits the plan
  • Uses cheer to dodge hard feelings
  • Assumes she knows how things end
  • Hates being left out of anything

In relationships

Does Alice ever ask first? Rarely. She has usually seen the friendship coming, so she skips the awkward early stage and goes straight to borrowing your life for a wedding. With Bella, that pushy warmth becomes one of the steadiest bonds in the saga, and Alice is the one who crosses an ocean to save Bella's love story.

Jasper is her anchor, the calm soldier who follows her lead without needing the full explanation. She also pairs well with Edward, whose gloom she refuses to take seriously, and with Carlisle, who gives her the stable home her human life never had.
