All ESTJ characters · How MBTI works

Cho Hyun-ju walks into season two as an outsider in a room full of outsiders. She is a transgender woman who served as a sergeant and was discharged when she wanted to transition. Her family’s support disappeared, work dried up, and she needs money for surgery and maybe a new life in Thailand.

Plenty of players stare or sneer. She does not ask anyone for approval. She becomes useful, and then she becomes essential.

Her type shows up in the pentathlon. Her team of five is chained together and falling apart, so she drives them through it, including a slap for Seon-nyeo when panic takes over, and the team survives. That is ESTJ in one scene: take charge, assign the job, make it happen, apologize later if at all.

The rebellion shows the same muscle at full strength. She takes out the security cameras, collects weapons, and teaches the others how to reload. She tells Gyeong-seok about her special forces past. When Dae-ho fails to come back with ammunition, she goes to find him and learns that he lied about being a marine.

She is an 8, the protector who will not be controlled. Her temper flares when Seon-nyeo mocks the death of her friend Young-mi, and it takes other people to hold her back. She is also honest about what she wants: twice she votes to keep playing because of what her transition will cost. She owns those votes instead of dressing them up. When the revolt collapses, Geum-ja is the one who stops her from charging into a fight she cannot win.

Hide and seek is her last stand. She, Geum-ja and the pregnant Jun-hee become a unit. Hyun-ju fights off attackers while the baby is born, finds a way out, and goes back for her friends. Myung-gi kills her there, and Geum-ja closes her eyes.

Could she be an ESTP? She is physical, fast and brave. But an ESTP plays the moment, and Hyun-ju builds structure inside it: teams, roles, drills, a rescue plan. Plenty of viewers ranked her among the best characters of season two.

Strengths

  • Natural leader in a crisis
  • Protects people weaker than her
  • Practical and organized
  • Physically brave
  • Honest about what she wants

Weak spots

  • Temper flares when mocked
  • Blunt to the point of harsh
  • Puts herself last in danger

In relationships

Is there anything more comforting than a friend who knows how to reload a gun? Hyun-ju's care is practical. She will not gush, but she will fight off attackers while you give birth, and she will come back for you when the exit is right there.

She does well with warm people who see her clearly. Geum-ja treated her as family from the start. Jun-ho shares her discipline and her sense of duty. Sae-byeok would match her toughness and appreciate her silence. Loud bullies like Thanos bring out the side of her that does not wait for permission.
