Naruto personality types

Hot take: Naruto is a show about loneliness wearing an orange jumpsuit. The ninja fights are fun, but what hooks you is a kid nobody will sit next to, shouting that he will be Hokage so the village finally has to look at him.

Masashi Kishimoto’s manga started in 1999 and ran for fifteen years, and the anime followed it all the way through Shippuden. The story keeps adding weight as it goes: a fox spirit sealed inside a baby, a clan wiped out in one night, cursed eyes, a group in red-cloud cloaks, and a war that drags in every ninja nation.

Almost every main character carries a wound, and how they carry it is where personality shows. Gaara turned his into rage, then slowly into something kinder. Kakashi hides his behind a book and a mask. Sasuke lets his decide everything. Our profiles follow those choices across the full story, so you will hit spoilers for the end of Shippuden and the manga’s epilogue chapter.
