Early in season two, Littlefinger hints to Cersei that knowledge can be a weapon and that he knows things about her. She has her guards grab him and hold a blade to his throat, then calmly tells them to let him go. Her point is that power is power. It is a thirty second scene and it is her entire philosophy.
Cersei is an Eight with a 7 wing. Eights fear being controlled or made powerless, and her whole life has been men deciding her fate. The Faith strips her and marches her naked through the streets. Her answer to every one of these is the same: more power, more force, no apologies.
As an ESTJ she cares about control, hierarchy and results she can see. She runs the court through orders, threats and loyal enforcers, from the Kingsguard to the Mountain, raised from the dead and walking at her side. Memory is her second engine, and Cersei forgets nothing. A prophecy she heard from a witch as a girl follows her for her whole life. Every slight against the Lannister name gets filed and repaid.
Flashes of bold strategy come on top of that. The wildfire under the Great Sept of Baelor is the most devastating move anyone makes in season six: in one stroke she wipes out the Faith, the Tyrells and her enemies on the council. The private emotional world is what she rarely touches, and the one exception is her children. That love is real, and it is the only soft thing in her. When Tommen jumps from his window, she does not cry on screen. She orders him burned and his ashes buried in the ruins of the Sept, then takes the throne.
She does not grow. She hardens. She lies to Jon and Daenerys about sending her army north, hires the Golden Company, and stays in the Red Keep while it falls. She dies beneath it in Jaime’s arms, scared and begging not to die like this.
Plenty of fans type her as a Three, because her pride and her image matter so much. The walk of atonement wounds her vanity for sure. Still, Cersei is happy to be hated if she is obeyed. A Three needs the audience. Cersei needs the throne.
Strengths
- Decisive when others freeze
- Fiercely protective of her children
- Knows exactly what she wants
- Never backs down from a threat
Weak spots
- Paranoid about everyone around her
- Punishes enemies far past reason
- Mistakes fear for loyalty
- Ignores advice she does not like
- Treats any disagreement as betrayal
In relationships
Her marriage to Robert is a cold war with occasional wine, and her rivalry with Margaery Tyrell is about who controls her son. Cersei keeps a very small circle, her children and Jaime, and loves them with total intensity. Everyone else is either useful or a threat. Even with Jaime, she gives love on her terms.
Conflict with Cersei never ends, it goes underground and waits. She needs people strong enough to stand up to her without being crushed. Jaime is the only one she lets all the way in, Littlefinger understands her ambition, and Sandor would be the bodyguard who refuses to flatter her.
