Reckless, charming, and loyal enough to break out of Azkaban for it.

Sirius Black ran away from home at sixteen, owned a flying motorbike, and spent twelve years in Azkaban for a crime he did not commit. Then he escaped by turning into a dog thin enough to slip between the bars. If you had to sum him up in one word, it would be restless.
Restlessness is the enneagram 7 in him, with an 8 wing for the swagger and the temper. Sevens fear being trapped in pain, so they keep moving to avoid feeling it. Sirius treats boredom like a threat. Shut inside Grimmauld Place in fifth year, with Kreacher muttering and his mother’s portrait shrieking in the hall, he turns moody, spends hours upstairs with Buckbeak, and snaps at Harry that he is less like James than Sirius thought.
As for MBTI, he fits ESFP. He wants action, speed and stimulation right now, and he is happiest in the middle of something loud: a duel, a prank, a risky trip to King’s Cross in dog form just to see Harry off. Beneath it runs a fierce private code he chose for himself. Born into a pure-blood family that worshipped blood status, he rejected all of it, and his mother blasted his name off the family tree on the drawing room wall.
The same wiring explains his worst moments. He is quick and decisive, but rarely careful, and he struggles to step back and see where his actions lead. As a teenager he steered Snape toward the Whomping Willow on a full moon night for a laugh, nearly getting Snape killed and Lupin exposed. As an adult, when Pettigrew betrays the Potters, Sirius skips every sensible step, hunts him down alone, and ends up locked away without a trial.
His growth is short, which is the tragedy. He becomes the godfather Harry never had: he sends a Firebolt, appears in the fire at Gryffindor Tower, and answers every worried letter. Then he rushes to the Ministry to rescue Harry and falls through the veil mid-duel, still laughing at his cousin Bellatrix.
ENFP is a common alternative, because he is idealistic and rebellious. Fair enough. Still, Sirius almost never theorizes. He acts, hunts, rides and duels, and his idealism lives in loyalty to James and Harry.
Strengths
- Unbreakably loyal to his chosen family
- Fearless in a crisis
- Warm, funny and easy to love
- Rejected his family's prejudice as a teenager
Weak spots
- Acts first and considers consequences later
- Cruel when he is bored or angry
- Falls apart when cooped up
- Sometimes treats Harry like a second James
- Cannot sit still while others do the planning
In relationships
James was the brother he chose, and Harry becomes the son he never got to raise. Sirius loves loudly and protectively, and he would do anything for the people inside his circle and happily make life miserable for anyone outside it, Snape most of all.
In conflict he runs hot, takes things personally and says the cutting line before he can stop himself. His best matches are steady people who still enjoy a bit of chaos: Harry, of course, Ron, who forgave him for being dragged into the Shrieking Shack by the leg, and McGonagall, who remembers his school pranks with equal parts horror and fondness.
