Suzanne Collins built a whole world around that one cruel idea in 2008, and the trilogy plus two prequels now stretch across more than sixty years. Being watched shapes every person here. Some fight inside the arena, others sponsor it, style it or run it, and you can see who they are by how they act with a camera on them.

The films stay close to the books, though not perfectly. Jennifer Lawrence plays Katniss, and Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler lead the Ballad adaptation. Peeta keeps both legs on screen, Snow gets private scenes the novels never show, and Effie has a much bigger part in Mockingjay. When a change affects how you read someone, the profile says so.
