Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains how CHECKBOX (“we”, “us”), a company based in Poland, collects and uses information when you visit whichareyou.com (the “Site”). We are the data controller. You can reach us at hello@whichareyou.com.
1. What we collect
Information stored in your browser. When you finish a quiz, the result is saved in your browser’s local storage so that the “My results” page can show your matches and your personal type card. This information stays on your device. We do not receive it. You can delete it at any time with the “Clear my results” button or by clearing your browser data.
Anonymous result counters. When you complete a quiz, our server increases a counter for the result you received so we can show statistics such as “14% of people got this result”. No name, email address or other personal identifier is stored with the counter.
Server logs. Like every website, our servers and our hosting and security providers process technical data such as IP address, browser type, device, pages requested and time of the request. We use it to deliver the Site, keep it secure and fix errors.
Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message and use it only to reply.
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data.
2. Why we use it and our legal basis (GDPR)
- To provide and secure the Site and show your saved results: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, for information on your own device, your use of the feature you asked for.
- To measure traffic and improve the Site (analytics): your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), where required.
- To show and measure advertising: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), where required.
- To answer your messages: legitimate interests, or steps you asked for.
3. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We may use Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used and Google AdSense (and other advertising partners) to show ads. These services may place cookies or use similar technologies on your device and may collect information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you view. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent through a consent banner before non-essential cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. See our Cookie Policy for details.
4. Who receives data
We share data only with service providers that help us run the Site (hosting, content delivery and security such as Cloudflare, analytics and advertising partners such as Google) under their own terms or data processing agreements. Some of these providers are located outside the European Economic Area; where that happens we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. We do not sell your personal data.
4a. Points, nickname and leaderboard (optional)
To give you points, badges and a place on the leaderboard, your browser creates a random player ID and keeps your progress in its local storage. When you take part (finish a quiz, vote, rate, share, download your card or visit on a new day) our server receives that anonymous ID together with the activity, checks it, and calculates your points and badges itself. We do not link this ID to your name, email address or IP address, and we do not store your IP address for this feature.
If you choose a nickname, it is shown publicly on the leaderboard together with your points. Please do not use your real name or any personal data as a nickname. You can delete your nickname, player ID and all related records at any time with the “Delete my nickname and leaderboard data” link on the My results page. We keep this data until you delete it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the feature you chose to use (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. Social sharing buttons
The Pinterest, Facebook and X buttons are plain links. They only send data to those services if you click them, and then their own privacy policies apply.
6. How long we keep data
Server logs are kept for a short period (typically up to 90 days). Anonymous result counters are kept as long as the quiz exists. Messages are kept as long as needed to answer you and for a reasonable period afterwards.
7. Your rights
If you are in the EEA, the UK or a similar jurisdiction, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, withdraw consent at any time and receive your data in a portable format. To use these rights email hello@whichareyou.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO, uodo.gov.pl).
California residents. We do not sell personal information. Advertising partners described above may collect information for personalised advertising, which you can opt out of using the links in section 3. You may request access or deletion by emailing us.
8. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect the Site, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
